This is a list of slang terms and acronyms that are commonly used in the United Space Star Force.

86[]

To cancel or to stop something, such as "86 that requisition"

ADASC/Jump Drive[]

ADASC (pronounced "Add-uh-sack"), or Jump drive, is an acronym for "Alcubierre Drive Antimatter Super Collider", a faster than light engine used by starships to travel between star systems (named after Mexican physicist Dr. Miguel Alcubierre and his Alcubierre Drive, a theoretical drive capable of making a spacecraft move faster than light without breaking the laws of physics using exotic matter). The ADASC takes up the most room of any other component of a Spacecraft Carrier, and few to no average starman understand how it fully works.

When a ship initiates its Jump Drive it is referred to as "Jump speed" or "making a jump".

Candies/Merit Badges[]

Various medals and ribbons worn by Star Force personnel on their dress uniform ("make sure your candies are centered perfectly on your class Bs starmen, formal inspection is at 0900").

"Merit badges" is a derogatory nickname for Star Force medals due to their perceived easement to earn, similar to merit badges in scouting clubs.

Datawork/Dataforms[]

24th century equivalent of paperwork and forms- traditional paper is considered obsolete and not in use for administrative functions, relying instead on digitized forms that are completed via a holographic interface.

S.F.A.R.[]

"Stick From Ass Removal" (Pronounced one letter at a time) is a term used to tell a subordinate or peer to lighten up, such as "You need to perform an SFAR and chill", "Sergeant Blake really needs to initiate an SFAR--" "--don't let him catch you saying that"

SNUF-E/SNUFE[]

"Super New Untested Flying Ensign/Stupid New Untrained Flying Ensign" (pronounced as "snuffy") a term used to describe a brand new/inexperienced rapid reconnaissance flight officer with the rank of "Ensign" who has been assigned to their first unit. Also the callsign (often accompanied by a number if more than one new ensign is present ie "SNUF-E 2, SNUF-E 3", etc) used by new arrivals at their squadron until they receive their first callsign during Name Day

Spare Parts[]

This term is used in the context of having or seeking out a sexual partner who is also a uniformed service member of the Star Force, usually while deployed on a starship (ie "That's Ensign Garcia, Lt. Rothbard's Spare Parts", "are you looking for Spare Parts?"). Parts derives from the acronym PRTs meaning "Partner Release Techniques" a play on the term "Self Release Techniques"- a method prescribed by Star Force Medical personnel to pilots as a means of relieving heightened libido, a side effect of hypersonic tolerance injections Star Force pilots receive periodically.

The term is used because Star Force defines sexual relationships between personnel as "fraternization and detrimental to good order and discipline, and is strictly prohibited". In practice, fraternization is rampant in Star Force and most commanders are willing to turn a blind eye towards the practice as long as it doesn't impact operational effectiveness. The term is familiar to and used by non-aviation personnel in Star Force as well.

Sprite[]

Refers to a first year cadet at the Star Force Academy.

SRTs/Certs[]

"Self Release Techniques" (pronounced as "certs"), masturbation. Prescribed by Star Force Medical personnel to pilots as a means of relieving heightened libido, a side effect of hypersonic tolerance injections Star Force pilots receive periodically. The term is mostly used by and applies to Star Force pilots although it is understood and used by the entirety of Star Force. A starman who has just completed SRTs is said to have "certified".

Starbrat[]

A term used to describe a child who grows up under one or both parents on active duty in the Star Force, characterized by constantly moving from star base to star base.

Also a term used to describe any Star Force Academy graduates- considered slightly derogatory as it plays on stereotypes that Academy graduates are egotistical and immature, although considered less derogatory than "space cadet".

Starmen/Starman[]

A term used to describe anyone in the United Space Star Force, regardless of gender.

Tailpipe[]

The exhaust pipe found on various starships and planes, commonly used as a euphemism for buttocks/posterior in Star Force such as "I'm gonna break my foot off in your tail pipe if you don't shape up, Starman".

Techie[]

A term used to describe a Technical Sergeant/Tech Sergeant, a starman Non-Commissioned officer that ranks just above Staff Sergeant. It is generally used by superiors or peers, although tech sergeants may tolerate use of the term by their subordinates on an individual basis. Similar to the use of the term "Gunny" for "Gunnery Sergeant" in the United States Marine Corps.
